Prologue:

The leaders and deputies of each Clan gathered around the MoonPool; their pelts glowed a beautifully light color in the light seeping in from the cracks in the ceiling. Crowstar, a large black tom, and leader of ThunderClan, was pacing back and forth, his thick black tail lashing against the stone floor. His deputy, Fallingtail, who was a beautiful gray she-cat, watched him walking with wide green eyes the color of emeralds.

"Why did you call us here, Shadowstar?" Jaystar, the leader of WindClan, asked from where he was sitting near the pool's edge. His silver tabby pelt was illuminated a white color from the moonlight, but his bright green eyes remained bright, untainted by the lighting. 

"As many of you know," Shadowstar began, looking around the room at the five other cats. His deputy and mate, Echopelt, was standing at his side, her fluffy pelt fluffed up to protect her from the cold. "A dark time has fallen up the Clans like a feather falls upon a lake," Shadowstar continued. Echopelt turned her tortoiseshell head to look at Shadowstar, and gave him a confident smile.

Gorseheart, the deputy of ShadowClan, and a tom known to be both harsh in words and hard in battle, stood up, his ginger tail lashing against the cold stone floor. "I do not see how WindClan's problems affect ShadowClan in the slightest," he spat, "Frankly, we've known WindClan was the weakest Clan for a long time now." Dovestar, the leader of ShadowClan, rested her silver tabby tail across Gorseheart's shoulders, and Shadowstar remembered that Dovestar and Gorseheart were mates.

"Perhaps Shadowstar has not yet gotten to that part," Dovestar meowed, turning her bright blue gaze onto Shadowstar, "Do go on, Shadowstar." There was a hint of superiority in her tone that she usually talked with, but it no longer offended Shadowstar to hear it.

"Prey is scarce and it is only GreenLeaf. I know that it is not only WindClan; I can see it on your face, in the way that you talk, and the way that you're shaped. It's affecting all of us," Shadowstar meowed. Echopelt seemed pleased, her bright blue gaze lit up with pride.

Crowstar let out a soft hiss, his unsheathed claws tearing at the stone floor. He seemed to have something to say, but he remained quiet, as Fallingtail walked over to Shadowstar. "Shadowstar, just because WindClan may be having a prey shortage, does not mean that other Clans are," Fallingtail meowed, "In fact, ThunderClan has never had better prey."

Dovestar walked over too, and Shadowstar narrowed his eyes at the way that ShadowClan and ThunderClan seemed to be getting along very well. "I agree with Fallingtail; there is certainly no shortage of prey in ShadowClan!" Dovestar meowed, "Now, if that is all, ShadowClan shall now leave." Dovestar headed to the entrance to the MoonPool with Gorseheart following her.

Shadowstar yowled, "You'll regret not partnering with WindClan in the end!" Echopelt stiffly shifted her paws, looking at her mate, then looking at the cats that had just left. She brushed her tail along her mate's cheek, before rasping her tongue over his ear.

"Calm down, dear," Echopelt meowed, "They'll realize they're making a mistake soon." Falling tail and Crowstar exited the MoonPool, following after Dovestar and Gorseheart.

"They seem awfully close," Jaystar meowed, obviously noticing that ThunderClan and ShadowClan were acting very comfy with each other, "If ThunderClan and ShadowClan have a truce, then RiverClan will stand with you, Shadowstar."

Shadowstar blinked appreciatively at the RiverClan leader. "Thank you, Jaystar. WindClan will stand with you as well," Shadowstar meowed. Heatherwhisker, the RiverClan deputy, walked over to join the group of cats.

"We should all return to our Clans," Heatherwhisker meowed, "We can meet again next HalfMoon." They all agreed, and started to leave the MoonPool together.
